Counselor

Angie McDermott grew up on farm southwest of Bertrand, Nebraska.  She received her Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Recreational Therapy in December of 1993 from the University of Nebraska in Kearney and received her Master of Science in Counseling in May of 1997 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  She has been at First Baptist Church since her internship in 1997.  Her husband’s name is Roger and they have together three sons and daughter-in-laws, two grandsons, and four granddaughters.  She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is licensed with the State of Nebraska as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner.

Purpose of the Ministry

Seek to come alongside the First Baptist Church’s ministries and assist those who are hurting to embrace God’s purposes for their lives and strengthen them so as to enrich the body of Christ.  While relying on God’s wisdom and guidance, use strategic interventions to equip counselees to achieve resolution to their root issues by exploring those issues that have lead to pain and suffering.

Whom We Serve
The Christian Counseling, Care, & Growth Ministry is opening to anyone seeking counsel, or seeking to grow in their walk with the Lord.  The Ministry provides several opportunities, via group, education, and Biblical studies.  Biblical Studies have included such authors as Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Margaret Feinberg, Kay Arthur, Max Lucado, Francis Chan, John & Staci Eldredge, and James MacDonald.  Group and Bible study topics have included attitudes, forgiveness, boundaries, prayer life, spiritual disciplines, character, and many more.
